International Collaboration

PsyDAF partners with global mental health organizations, academic institutions, and professionals to strengthen psychosocial support systems through collective action. Our international work focuses on:

Facilitating cross-border training and mentorship

Sharing culturally relevant knowledge and resources

Developing and testing evidence-based interventions

Advocating for international funding and inclusive mental health policies

Conducting collaborative research and crisis response

Building a global support network for African practitioners and communities

Through these efforts, we ensure African mental health challenges and innovations are visible and valued on the global stage.

We believe in evidence-led impact. PsyDAF collaborates with universities, think tanks, and field researchers to:

Conduct needs assessments and longitudinal studies

Evaluate programs and interventions using culturally valid metrics

Identify mental health trends and emerging psychosocial risks

Generate Afrocentric data to inform context-sensitive care

Contribute to global knowledge production on mental health in low-resource and post-colonial settings

Train the next generation of researchers and community-based mental health practitioners

We openly share insights through reports, toolkits, webinars, and platforms like the PRo-ResPHiCE framework.

PsyDAF runs grassroots and national-level campaigns that reshape how mental health is understood and approached across communities. Our campaigns are multilingual, visual, and community-led. Key focuses include:

Breaking mental health stigma in rural and urban areas

Promoting psychological well-being as part of holistic health

Encouraging early help-seeking behavior

Educating communities about mental health resources

Engaging youth, schools, churches, and workplaces in awareness activities

We use storytelling, media, art, and dialogue as powerful tools to ignite change.

PsyDAF provides access to professional, affordable, and culturally responsive therapy. Our therapy offerings include:

Individual Therapy: Trauma support, depression, anxiety, grief, adjustment, and life challenges

Group Therapy: Peer support groups, thematic healing circles, and resilience-focused interventions

Community-Based Counseling: Delivered via mobile clinics and outreach programs

Digital Therapy: Online counseling for remote areas or during crises

Our therapeutic model blends evidence-based modalities with indigenous knowledge and community wisdom.

At PsyDAF, we understand that healing must resonate with cultural identity. Our initiatives are built to:

Integrate traditional practices and indigenous psychology

Collaborate with local healers, elders, and spiritual leaders

Respect community rituals and norms in intervention design

Translate psychoeducation materials into local languages

Train practitioners in culturally competent care models

This approach helps bridge the gap between modern psychology and community beliefs resulting in greater trust, relevance, and outcomes.

We work across the continuum of care from prevention to treatment to empowerment:

Prevention: School-based programs, parenting support, emotional literacy, and trauma-informed training

Curative: Access to clinical care, medication management partnerships, therapy, and referrals

Self-Help: Tools, guides, apps, and resources that equip individuals and families with strategies for managing distress and building resilience

Our model empowers communities to become active participants in their own healing journeys.

PsyDAF is deeply engaged in shaping systems that prioritize mental health at a structural level. Our advocacy work includes:

Lobbying for increased government and donor funding for mental health

Promoting integration of mental health into primary healthcare

Supporting the implementation of national mental health strategies

Drafting policy recommendations and position papers

Raising awareness among policymakers, civil society, and healthcare leaders

Challenging stigma and rights violations through media and campaigns

We serve as a bridge between practitioners, communities, and policymakers to ensure Africa’s mental health voice is heard and respected.
